Took this photo yesterday evening. We got rain during the day, but in the evening the sun was shining.
I took a lot of photos with all kind off settings of this scene, didn't use a filter, but it is diffcult to photograph against the sun and having a dark foreground.
I know you can cover this problem easy by taking two photos and put them in PS together.
I don't like to PS much so i wonder if anyone can give some practical tips to cope with this kind of situation ?

Maybe you have too much sky in this shot. The camera was probably going for an average meter of the whole shot. Try recomposing as shown. This will 'fool' the camera into a more suitable exposure and the composition will be more pleasing.

Try taking one shot metering specifically off a midtone (the foggy area). All in all, I think you did capture the mood.

About the only thing you can do is try a split ND Filter to equalize the sky and foreground
