took a pic of a flower in a boutique on the back porch of my house in day light. Just wondering what i can do/how i can do things better... Thank you!

Very nice. You might try a slightly different composition that gets the blue flower out of the exact center of the image. It gives it a bullseye look.

so just make sure it's off center?

The general rule is to divide the frame into thirds, both horizontally and vertically. Where the lines intersect is where you want the subject(s) to be. Supposedly those points are where the eye is naturally drawn to. Placing it in the middle is uninteresting and typical of most normal snapshots.
As for your photo, the colors are very nice. The flower you focused on almost stands out enough, but it would have been nicer if the other objects weren't so in focus also.
