View Full Version : Mac, worth upgrading to Tiger for photography?

Pretty much all I use my Powerbook for is the processing/viewing my photos and surfing the web. With this in mind any thoughts on whether it'd be worth the upgrade to Tiger? I know that with the upgrade you can now view Raw files as thumbnails but I use iView MediaPro & PS for viewing so I can't see that being worth the expense.
Thanks.

Hi
I agree with your assessment - there isn't much in Tiger to directly help you with photography if you are already using iView.
Tiger will probably make your PB run a bit faster and smoother and brings a host of other enhancements. If you are not a power user, accessing many different file types over many applications, Tiger's productivity advantages won't help you much.
In time I think Spotlight and the Smart Folders are going to place a lot of pressure on apps like iView. If you ally Spotlight with the new Bridge app in PS/CS2, why would you need iView or similar?
You may want to upgrade later as more and more applications move to Tiger and support for your current version weakens.
