Alejandra Guzman is known as the "Latin Queen of Rock" and is extremely popular. Since few here are Latino I will cut this short and go right to the images:

#1 Obligatory collage ... please note that the way it worked out it makes her look as though she has a yellow rain jacket on, but it is actually a larger woolly coat that you will see in another image.

#2 And here's the woolly coat ... and scarf and leggings, etc.

#3 The whole show was POWERFUL! I don't speak Spanish so I have no idea what the songs were about, but whatever it was, she really blasted it across.

#4 And as with many of Latins, she had a show that wrapped around her music.

#5

#6 Audience member brought on stage and given an erotic dance! He was in awe!!!

#7 She's pretty flexible! The orange in the foreground is the 'End of stage' marker tape. With spotlights in your eyes it can be very hard to know where the stage ends.

#8 After she'd heated things up, she cooled them down by bringing the band up front into a very intimate setting and sang more ballads ... it was very impressive to see the changeover.

:( are you allowed to shoot backstage -- make -up sessions -- prior to the show ?

No. As it turns out, 99% of the time, I am allowed to shoot exactly what the media togs are allowed, no more and sometimes less. I do have an All Access pass and I do have a casino ID that unlocks doors and I can normally wander where I like, but I can't take pictures. The talent, their management, and some of our people, like to control all photography. There are rare occasions where I have additional access but generally not for anyone well known or currently popular. It would be nice, it would be interesting, but too many people have violated too many agreements and soured most all of the entertainment industry on photographers in general. I've seen togs shooting at the casino with me turn around and blatantly break the rules without a care as to how it impacts me or others.

Dwight, do you hand your shots to the artist manager ? or are free to publish whatever shot you seem deemed ? Do the artist manager calls the shots as far what you can't or can do ?
I *might* be working with some well known artist and the reason for all of these questions. It seems to me that Music it is a TIGHT businness. First you get the OK from the event's manager then the artist manager. Where as in sports the media agency deals with the credential and the area/hotel does not get involved.

I can't just imagine getting a credentail for van halen or the stones...

I work for the casino. I normally have no interaction with the artist or their management beyond determining what photography rules they have ... usually "first three songs". These rules vary hugely from act to act. Some make you sign an agreement about what can be done with the pictures. Some even demand to own them. It certainly is an industry of egos. Casino management likes what I do and doesn't manage me at all. I own the pictures and the casino has an unlimited license to use but doesn't do much with them as they want them for documentation mostly.

I only shoot big talent at the casino and they take care of all credentials. I don't even know how to go about getting credentials.

Quite a bit of action for the Chumash. Nice :)

Not the most flattering expressions, but powerful for sure.

On the laptop ATM, so hard to see the images on the tiny screen. I'll comment some more later.

Thanks, Roman, the guy from the audience was clearly instructed on what to do but it was still fun! Guzman knows how to work that scene ... she does it at every concert apparently. She is a consummate performer! No wonder she's the "Latina Madonna!"

Nope, her expressions were not flattering and a lot of her moves weren't either, but I don't think her show is designed to be flattering to her, but rather to incite the audience and demonstrate her power. I'd still rather watch Paulina Rubio:

As usual, Dwight, you took some fine images in this set. It seems to me that #2 has is quite a bit blown in the yellow and your recovery makes her face look plastic. Not sure if you could do better. I know that sometimes those saturated colors can get awfully harsh on skin and are a devil to PP.

If you look at her face in #1 you get an idea of the yellowness they had going on ... I don't recall what I did, if anything ... I'm usually pretty gentle on the controls in LR.
