So I'm looking at accessory pouches...

Are there any that can accomodate a 77mm lens hood (instead of a point + shoot, cell phone, etc)?

Looking to attach one to my backpack's shoulder straps...

No one uses an accessory bag to store their lens cap?

Lens caps go into my pockets, bags or whatever lens pouch I use (be it lowepro or think tank- they have a wire mesh inside or outside the pouch to store the caps).

THink Tank Photo makes pouches, so does LowePro. Check their sites

Lens hood? Or lens cap? Lens caps go back into whatever compartment the lens came out of. Lens hoods stay on the lens at all times. The compartment must be large enough to accommodate the lens with hood on or I don't use it.

Oops, my bad Jon. Lens cap.

I just want an easy-to-access place to put the lens cap, so I can have the camera out and covered, but remove the cap for when I want to start shooting (and not have to open up the bag).

I think this item might just be it:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/248143-REG/Tamrac_MXS536301_MX_S5363_Compact_Filter_Case.html

There are plenty of filter holders, although most of them are designed to be inside of a pack, aka have no external loops.

Hopefully this one will work well!

Tamrac also makes a holder for five filters, similar to the one you show. The three filter holder is rather compact, but not roomy. The five filter holder is a little bulkier, but has more room for each filter, even a Lee or Cokin holder (not the actual filter.)

BH has it as well, Tamrac MX5388, http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/248131-REG/Tamrac_MX538801_MX5388_Filter_Belt_Pack.html.

Thanks for the tip Jay, although if all I'm putting in there is a lens cap (up to 77mm), wouldn't the three provide plenty of space?

Cargo pants or shorts have all kinds of wonderful pockets that hold lens caps and other feldergarp...

Very true, although I have a dedicated "camera bag." I don't think those around me would be very happy if I had shorts I wore every day as my "photography shorts" ;).

I just want a small bag to hold my lens cap. Nothing more, nothings less :).

The small one will work fine. When you add filters, you'll have space.

If your'e looking for something to attach to your belt or a belt loop, why not grab a cheap little case that's ment for a tiny P&S? Or a blackberry? Walmart has them for $5 or $6...

I've been to some of the stores to look at them and they're just not wide enough (77mm).

The blackberry cases I've seen are mostly not enclosed, and rather use quick-attachments that hook into the phones themselves. I'd rather have a small "pocket" like case.

I'm afraid for me a pouch for a lens cap is just something else to fiddle with. Mine go either into the nearest pocket or the mesh end pockets on my Nova 5. Mostly the nearest pocket!

This makes no sense. You're not allowed to wear shorts or anything with pockets?

The caps stay on in the bag and if I'm out stay off or it'd just get annoying and you might even pull the old "forgot to take the lens cap off." MY bag has a small inside zipper pocket I stash them in or they go in my pockets. If at a wedding...well, pants have four pockets and a coat has more and my 7MDH usually just gets whatever thrown into it.

Wow, well if I for some reason on an extremely rare occasion have no pants or shirt pockets to put the lens cap in, it goes back in the bag... Simple as that.

Yes. Same place, in that instance, as my wallet--money, ID, et cetera. But I can't image being anywhere taking pictures wearing clothes without pockets or some other gear with compartments, even if I were shooting underwater.

No, it makes perfect sense. I usually have other things (wallet, cell phone, keys) in my pockets that I don't want to have scratched up by the lens cap (or vice-versa). Wearing shorts (or pants) with many more pockets just to hold the lens cap would mean that I would need to buy all new shorts/pants and/or wear one pair continuously.

I'd rather have an easy place in my bag to put it.

I suppose you could forego a case for a lens cap altogether and pick up a lens keeper. See here - http://www.amazon.com/Bower-CK501-Lens-Cap-Keeper/dp/B000NHZSHK

Other than that, back it goes into the camera bag. If you're afraid of it getting lost in the bag, you could stick a piece of velcro on it and then velcro it to whatever velcro-able material there is in the bag or spray paint it a fluorescent colour to make it easier to find.
