Name the photographer please

Hi POTNers:

A request from a friend. She is trying to find the name of a photographer, and has very little information to go on, and some of it may be wrong:

Here's what she has:

American
fine art kind of surreal
mostly sepia
the two favorite ones
a man walking in landscape holding onto stylised clouds by strings like balloons'and a man wearing a lot of wicker
I thought one was called songs of the earth....earthsongs??
felt like they were set around 1930 40


Any ideas?
