Shot my first wedding yesterday, I think I did pretty well. I like what I can see, so far. My main issue.

I shoot primarily with the 5d and was using a friends 50d as a second body yesterday. I gave it back to my friend, and tried uploading the photos off of my camera via USB today. I do not have a CF reader. Everything shot with my 5d works fine.

My problem- Everything shot with the 50d cannot be read by photoshop. It is a normal CR2 file, but when I download them off the camera only thumbnails can be seen in adobe bridge and photoshop cs4 "will not recognize that type of file."

I researched a bit this morning about how to fix it, and read that getting a CF card reader will solve my dilemna. (I am headed out to buy one after this post)

I would just like to have someone confirm that using a CF reader is a good idea before I use it. The last thing I want to do is to lose these photos.

Thanks in advance!

gmac you will also have to check whether you have the newest version of camera Raw the 50D files wouldn't open in earlier versions.

Camera Raw 5.4 for CS4 is out and on the Adobe website now, once loaded and installed your CR2 files will be seen, a card reader is the best way to download files to a computer.

Use a card reader. Let Photoshop update itself so CS4 can read the 50D files.

Thanks for the help. My computer I run photoshop on isnt connected to the internet (for productivity's sake) so I downloaded the update and all is well.

I will post up the results pretty soon!
