Akaroa, New Zealand. The original looks much nicer.

it's a beautiful scene
especially with that tree standing alone there

Marie took the words right out of my mouth. The tree really makes this shot special.

Nice capture, of our beautiful scenery. :)

What did you use to resize it then? If you feel it's not as great as the original.

Sweet shot!

If it were me I would crop the area with shadow out of the foreground as it slightly detracts from the loneliness of the other sole tree and also pulls the horizon towards the bottom third of the image, which in turn empahsises that wonderful dramatic sky. And - if I'd been there and thought about it I would have moved slightly to the right to move the tree to the left to open up the distance between the tree and the opening of the bay.

Mind you all that is in hindsight and I would probably have taken the same shot!
Cheers

Nice shot. Can't figure out exactly where it's taken from. I spent lots of my school holidays at Robinson's Bay - just a bay or two away from Akaroa township. In the days before it became so popular ...

Nice shot of the "Long Harbour".

thanks all for commenting, BobL, thank you for your advice, my skill has since grown now so I am going back there soon, as it's only 1hr drive from ChCh. But have to wait for hours, if not days for such a day with those lovely sky, some dawn shots would be nice too. Have to bring my tent and sleeping bag now as it is winter here.

Will post the pics here.

WazzaWhat did you use to resize it then? If you feel it's not as great as the original.

I used PS CS for sharpening, resizing and so on and using Office Picture Manager to resize the pic again when I realized it was still too big for posting. Not a really good job I think. Thank you!

Cheers

thanks a lot, Marie. I will try it.

This is the place that's on the way to French Farm, just opposite the Akaroa Harbour. Driving from ChCh towards the township of Akaroa, turn right when you see the sign - French Farm.

For those of you who want to find this beautiful place.

Cheers

I took this previous reply all wrong when giving my last reply here

where you have 'Wazza what did you use to resize it then? if you feel it's not as great as the original'
I had thought you were asking Wazza the question:confused:
but you were quoting Wazza's remark
sorry about that

the quotes usually come out in a different way
I got these mixed up

but , all's well that end's well

Hehe. I get confused everyday. ;)
Good that you have photoshop CS. I have PS 7 from about 4 years ago. Only more recently I've looked into slightly more advanced functions. - I guess most people would call them basic, such as levels, USM, and other basic enhancements.

If the original looks much nicer, then it must be some shot because the one shown here is beautiful IMHO
