WORLD WIDE PHOTO WEEK: Part 171 - Around Town

Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is "AROUND TOWN". Be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme -- the sky's the limit!


Here are the rules:

1. Shots need to be taken between sunrise Monday and sunset the following Sunday. Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snap shots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!

2. Post your shots at any time during the week.

3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e.,embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. I was "Around Town" today and took a few shots .. too hot to really get out, but did shoot from the comfort of my air conditioned automobile :)

This is a statue in front of an art gallery.. I have no idea what the story is, but I do like it :)

Since this area is the winter retreat for all those who live in cold climates and can afford to "winter in Palm Springs" there is a lot of art on the street for even peons like me can enjoy! :rolleyes:

John, a wonderful fireworks shot. Look like multiple explosions.. I'm curious, did you use the famous "baseball cap" trick?

Crissa, those are wonderful shots, looks like a great 4th for your family. ... and congratulations to that beauty of a kitten. Lucky little kitty, I'm sure she will bring lots of love to the family.

I found this while walking around my parents town on the 4th.

I grabbed a couple of hours yesterday for fun & games.
Took my little P&S with me and found these shots around town (well, sort of):


1. The old train was taking people for rides.

On the 4th we enjoyed some fireworks, but my shots were TERRIBLE! No tripod, no clue!

Nice shot there Dave, I like the reflection and a great representation of the day!

Barbara, those are wonderful.. really shows what is out and about you town. Love the train and the old caboose!

I was told beforehand that we would not be going to see fireworks, so I didn't take any gear... Then we ended up seeing the best fireworks show I have ever seen! :(

I think I will just pick a new theme for the coming week, there have been not suggestions. I'll be right back :)

OK, I have chosen a theme due to lack of response :( .. This week the theme will be FOOD (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=8233022#post8233022)

So get out there, or stay home and show me some FOOD shots!
