I designed my blog recently for clients to read. I will be posting photos on it as well. I am wondering what a good size to post is so that its not really printable etc
(What would you size them at? Right now they are about 800pxl max height or length.)

IMO a file any larger than about 600 pixels across is quite printable (100ppi looks reasonably good). For any files I post, I put a rather large watermark on them, and my portfolio happens to be 440 x 660px.

A 20 kb image of 700 pixels at 50 ppi can be printed in a newspaper at half a page and if you view it from normal newspaper reading distance you won't be able to tell the difference if it were a higher resolution.
I've made a A 3 mb image at 2000 pixels wide a 17x22" print.
I suppose its all really pointless, copyright registration is the best way to protect, though, I'm just to lazy to care..put it on the net at any size it will potentially get stolen by someone who wants it bad enough.

50ppi? jeez...
I thought doing 600 at 100ppi would be good.

I just watermark all of my blog pics and save them as a small (20-80kb) file.

I dont mind water marking, i have a little watermark in the corner but I find over top of the image distracts from the picture.
