It's pretty self-explanatory from the pictures but it's just a piece of rubber from a bicycle inner tube sewn onto some "loop" velcro. Then on one end I sewed a square of "hook" velcro, sandwiching the rubber. I made the inner tube a little longer to act as a pull-tab.

It took no more than 5 minutes to make and works very well. There is NO slippage.

Oh, and to the guys who feel that sewing threatens their masculinity, a sewing machine is just another power tool

Nice work but I'm afraid this is not necessary as there are velcro out there already have double-side features, just in case you did not know.

But then you'd still have to add something to keep it from slipping.

Note that the second word in"sewing machine" happens to be "machine".

Enjoy! Lon

It doesn't get any more manly than power tools and machines :p

Especially a power tool that can leave your fingers stitched together! :D

I think his point is that the straps from Lumiquest and Honlphoto are too expensive for what they are.

I like this DIY, especially the idea of using the bicycle inner tube for non-slippage. I use a different DIY product, but this one looks good to me.

I used the armband for ipod (cheap one for dealextreme), cut and sew velcro. I think it is very nice and very pofessional looking. Very useful too.

Yup. I prefer this way because I don't know how to sew. :)

But then you'd still have to add something to keep it from slipping.

Those colorful liquid things used to write on t-shirts dry up into a rubbery, anti-slip feel. They will also stick to the backside of the Velcro pretty well since their main purpose is to be used on textile.

How can you stick speed grid and other accessories in this one? I do not see the loop velcro on your speed strap...
