Not many waterfalls posted recently. Here are two taken on my visit to North Carolina. Don't laugh, but they are in the French Broad River. (I don't make this stuff up, just report it.)

Where on the French Broad is the waterfall? That river runs not too far from where I live.

Another set of beautiful shots, Stan! #2 is fantastic.

Thanks everyone. I don't know how the name French Broad came to be used for a river. Probably very innocent. These and other falls are located right behind the Living waters Ministry on route 215 about 8 miles south of the Blue ridge Parkway. They are on private land, so ask the people there first. Two nice falls right there, cascades and more falls down a trail.

Lovely shots!!!! Did you use ND filters on the 1st shot?? It looks too bright for the waters to be blurred like that........

My wife absolutely hates these waterfall shots. She prefers the 'water hang' shots. I think these are terrific, well done. They bring a soft, peaceful feel to the stream pictures. I do prefer them straight on though. Would you share the technical stuff with us?

I'll have to sneak out without her some day soon and try this myself.

Both of them are great shots Stan, but I think the last one is my favorite.

I appreciate the additional comments. My apologies for overlooking EXIF data. As roanjohn surmised, it was a very bright day and I had a tough time trying to avoid blowing the highlights, even though I used a CPL. In fact, some of my shots were terribly blown out. There was a period when the sun went behind a cloud and I ran around like a madman, trying to get everything done before the sun returned. Didn't happen, of course.

For each scene, I took 3 or 4 shots at different settings. The first shot posted was 1/2 second at f 29.0, 100 ISO, 17 mm. Below is nearly the same shot taken at 1/60 sec, f 4.5, 100 ISO, 22 mm.

The second shot above was 1/4 sec, f 22.0, 100 ISO, 10 mm. Its counterpart posted below, 1/160 sec, f 3.5, 10 mm.

Oh yeah, I was underexposing by 1 or 2 stops part of the time, don't remember which shots, could figure it out possibly but haven't tried.

I learned a lot on this trip. 1. Sunny days are no good for waterfalls. 2. To really smoothe the waterfall requires at least 1/2 sec. I had been trying at 1/8 or even 1/15. 3. I may need a ND filter on top of the CPL.

Titus213, I hope your wife enjoys these taken at faster speeds.

This is one of the prettiest spots I've found. I counted the day a success even though I found roads closed that would have accessed about 7-8 more falls.

One more shot that gives a broader view of the two main falls. Unfortunately, the highlights on the waterfalls were totally blown out. Bummer. 1/25 sec, f 22.0, 100 ISO, 10 mm.

Great Shots. I found I always have to carry a 2x and a 4x ND filter. Depending on the amount of sun I would have to use one, or both to get a good blurring, 1/2 sec or slower shutter speed.
