Survival. It's hard to survive with "niche" vehicles only. Plus, their cooperation with VAG gives them more vehicle options (Cayenne).

First time I saw it I threw up on my keyboard, just did it again too.

Redefines `ugly`....

Porsche has to stop giving their 2 yr olds design team crayons and paper and leave it to qualified professionals...

Kinda looks like a porsche got it on with a mini-van and this is its love child...

I'm not sure what to think... it looks like the CEO's just dropped an extra 2 doors in the designers hands and said make it work. It really doesn't have the typical Porsche flow that I've come to love over the years.

It's hideous and should never see the light of day.

Not quite as hideous as a "commuter" baby Aston Martin, based on the Toyota Iq

You are a bit too dramatic. I don't think it's anywhere near ugly, and I do not think it is only me who thinks this way.

The image I linked to in the first post shows a car that I think is one of the most sexy things I have ever seen. The lines are amazing! The long flow of the car and the low stance look stunning.

However, the pics that I have seen from some test reports don't look anything like this. Figures! :(

That cant be real - a 4 door true 4 seater Porsche (i know of the Cayanne but i am trying to block it out of my mind as its so ugly!)

It does actually look nice although it completely redefines the lines that Porsche have been famous for

I didn't laugh the first time. I was too busy being dumbfounded. 30mpg highway isn't even that impressive. I mean, it's not a high enough number to brag about driving one.

"Sure it's ugly, but I get 30mpg out of this baby!"

Fail.

No doubt. I get 30-32 out of my spyder regularly...and it doesn't look like a square turd...and I can't imagine that the driving experience in that Nissan is too exciting, unless you feel that poor-handling, slow vehicles are exciting. :-P

My car doesn't get amazing gas mileage but at least I can call it a car.

Have read the reviews, the consensus from the motoring experts is ugly, waste of money, and Jeremy Clarkson said `Porsche's design team is the laziest design team ever`.

Although Top Gear did mention it has been a long time since any porsche has really been re-modelled fresh, they just take an old one and distort parts of it then bam we have a new model...

Jeremy Clarkson is a well known Porsche hater. If it had a bull on the hood he would love it.

Yep. Even Lamborghini is making one: Estoque (http://jalopnik.com/5057920/first-lamborghini-estoque-concept-live-shots-a-four+door-for-profit)

Why the heck not. Porsche has already commited the ultimate blesphemy with putting out a SUV. A four door car is not even news. No offence to the Chyanne, I like them, but it will allways be the abomination to the Porsche legend.

Yeah although the Chyanne (sp) doesnt look like an Austin Maxi...heck, exactly what Mark1 said...spot on the money.
