Just bought the much hailed piece of plastic. Having to wait on back order for the hood though, grrr.
Of course, first thing I did was slap it on and open it up all the way :D Let's see what 1.8 looks like. Has to be done.

So here's a few shots, mainly for those thinking about buying one to show you what I've found in my first 5 minutes of ownership, stumbling around the house looking for targets.

This is a good demonstration of the shallow DOF, you can easily see how quickly it tails off, and that I have a signed football :p

Another that shows the DOF. I was amazed at how little was in sharp focus when I saw this one.

Picking out a section in a perspective to focus on looks like a lot of fun, even at f2.5. Sure I can come up with other more creative uses for this. Have found that the lens wants to focus on the right of the photo more than the centre a lot. Especially if the item on the right is closer than the item in the center

Going to be good for product shots too, e.g., a custom steering wheel

Take a look at this one again. The needle cup and the trim around the dials are in focus, but the numbers which are a mere 5mm further away are not sharp

I just like this one. Will try to do it better later on

Hope it helps someone. So far I'm very impressed. Going to have more fun now
