I know this is a canon forum and this is more of a Nikon rumor, but this section did say photography industry news, so :)
I figured since Nikon brought the D5000 to the table, a short time later, canon brought out the T1i
Anyway, I found this:

I am pretty sure the D300s or D400 is a reality and I'll buy one at release. Sold my D300 a while back before SH prices start to drop. Got what I bought it for so free rental for the last several months! The anticipated specs are hardly worth the change over the existing model, unless you want the video facility, but projected depreciation of the existing model makes it worth changing for me.

I really don't see a point in the D3000. Nikon already has too many lines of DSLRs.

I'd like to see what they could possibly improve on. They're all insane cameras...what other accessories do we need?

Just like Canon, they have to keep introducing new models to keep us excited and spending $ lol

I hope they bring out a new camera so Canon will finally bring out the 3D or 7D or whatever.

I think it should be clear by now that Canon march to the beat of their own drum :)

Not really, the D5000 is too expensive to replace the D40 and D60. That's what this new entry-level camera will be for. I've heard it will lack video, which IMO isn't the right move--instead they should cut back the AF system, get rid of the swivel screen, give it 10MP (unlikely) and lower the FPS. People who will be buying this camera are the ones who want video the most, other than 5D2 shoppers who are buying it purely for that reason.

They changed their beat with the XXD series after the D300 came out... 1 year for a new model.
