My DREAM Canon lens... 28mm-500mm F4

I would be ridiculously satisfied with a 24-105 f/2.8 IS and that isn't even so much of a stretch to consider a reality. I would guess a price tage around $1400 maybe?

What you want not only exists, but it's existed for some time and is available at thousands of stores, for around US $400. It's the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS camera. (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/584437-REG/Canon_2665B001_PowerShot_SX10_IS_Digital.html) The lens has an equivalent view of 28-560mm in the old 35mm form factor. There should be nothing to stop you from going out and buying a camera that offers exactly what you want.
