I have a rebel and the remote control for it. The problem I have is to get the remote to work you have to put the camera into timer mode. I want the remote to take a shot as soon as I click the remote, not wait 2 seconds. Is there any way I can set it to take immediatly after pressing the remote button? I bought it to take hummingbird pics and I'm afraid the lag is gonna make that impossible. Any suggestions?

Which remote do you have?

Im guessing the wireless one, since the cable release doesn't take any longer than the shutter :D (unless set to timer, of course)

If you've got the RC-1 there is a little switch on the back which has 3 positions: Locked (L), 2 second delay (2) and no delay (Circle). Switch it to the no delay postion.

This may sound odd but have you ever consider building your own. I had built mine from parts from the Dollar store. For the Drebel, the construction is simple. Just buy a hands free headset used for cell phones. make sure they use the small phono jack. (Forgot about the size).. but make sure it fits. then cut the wires and strip so that there are three leads showing. Ground, and Red and White. The colour may be different in some. You need to search the web or play around (Trial and error). when connected, you can instantly enable shutter release or long exposure.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick replies... I got the RC-5... Guess I didn't read the specs enough, I see the RC-1 is adjustable. Maybe I'll send my RC-5 back for the RC-1. I would have spent the extra $5 if I had realized it. I hate making that kind of stupid mistake! S230, that sounds pretty cool... I guess that would be a wired shutter release? Sounds cool.

It works great. Had a handsfree laying around, so made one a while back. Look for one that has a button on the headset. It makes it easier. Cut the wires of the earpiece side and youare ready to go. Plug it into the DRebel and squeeze the button to fire the shutter.

I got the RC-1 also saw the RC-5 didn't like it. Too big. RC-1 smaller and attaches to the strap for easy storage and quick access.
