Another example of how the eye can be fooled through the use of the camera. Looks a lot like the surface of a planet or a moon, but it is just a few square feet of a sandstone rock by my front stairs under oblique sunlight. Canon S500.

So your front stairs lead out onto the moon. How cool and how lucky!! Nice shot, the camera can trick us all.

Thanks, everyone, for the comments. Fernando, this image has fooled me. When I looked at it this morning, I suffered from that old moon illusion where craters look like hills, and hills look like craters. But now I see the image as it is - sunlight from the right of the picture. There is also an object on the image that is a give away that it really is a close up shot - near the top, slightly left of center, is a pine needle (yellowish) and its shadow.
