I recall someone mentioning having to photgraph in the local park to get any variety of birds. Perhaps some camo like this might help :D

The most important thing with concelament is movement, even poor camo is effective if you keep still, it's movement that attracts the eye. I presume animals and birds are the same.

Camo seems to work sometimes, but mostly, I think the bird stayed up in the tree for 10 minutes or so to scope out what that new camoflaged lump was in his livingroom, then realized it was some fool in his gillie suit and decided to ignore him.
I don't think you can fool a bird. You are in their environment, the one they spend 24/7 in and it would be like some guy coming into your house and standing in the corner of your bedroom. No matter how well he was camoflaged, you would still be aware of it instantly.
They also have phenominal eye sight. Even in camo, they can see you breathe and in the case of robins and I am sure, most birds, they can even hear you breathe and hear your heart beat. Maybe they can smell you too.
On the other hand, sometimes birds are just like people, they are walking along fat, dumb and happy, thinking of something else and you may just catch them at it. ;)

Other day a bird in the wild came less than a meter close to me, I wasnt wearing camo or anything, was shooting another pair of birds
I think the most important thing is to be already there before the bird arrives, if you do they wont mind you so much, but are more sensitive if there was nothing there and suddenly you walk in, they must be more sensitive to changes in the ambient

I agree, birds and animals all tend to be attentive to the changes in environment so anything changes, they tend to want to leave, on the other hand if you are still there, and don't mess with the environment too much ( unnecessary movements/sounds etc) then they just tend to ignore you, and you are happy doing what you want.
try to be in a place for a long time, you will start to see some movements.
