I am going to book tickets for RNAS Culdrose air day this year as I have recently been hooked on aviation photography. I have the following lenses and bodies to use, which sort of combos do you think would work?
Canon 1D MKII
Canon 450D
Canon 400/5.6
Tamron 70-300/5.6
Canon 50/1.8 II
Canon 18-55 (EF-s)
I thought that the 400 would be a bit long so would the 70-300 on the 1D2 and the 50/1.8 on the 450D be OK?
I also will probably be able to borrow the following lenses:
would any of these be a good replacement for the lenses above.
Canon 70-200/2.8
Canon 17-40
Canon 24-105
In addition to the above, is there any special place that you can go if you are a photographer (at a price of course) (more space for lenses/cameras/bags ect than the public area)

It all depends on the programme.

I've been at Leuchars and also a small airshow at Perth and found that, with my 400d, my 70-300mm is perfect for formations (red arrows etc), and that my friends Sigma 170-500mm was ideal for single planes.

For taking shots of the static displays my vote would be for as wide a lens as you can get. I had my Sigma 18-50 2.8 on and due to having to move right up to the fence due to crowds etc i found 18mm was too long and that a 10-20mm would have been better (I did get round it by going for different angles, 45 profile views etc to try to get the most in).

As for the "special place", afaik there are none unless you have press credentials. That certainly was the situation at Leuchars (even service personnell were having to shoot from behind the cordon). My tip would just be to get there early and try to get a front row spot at the rope.
