Ok, i have a R/C car modeled to look like my 2004 Monte Carlo. I want to take a pic of the 2 of them and have the R/c model in the foreground and also have them appear the same size. Now i know there is going to be a big gap between the 2 cars with the R/C car being much closer to the camera. Will i be able to get focus on both cars with my RebelXS ? What sort of settings should i try first as a baseline, i have always been a single target focus kind of shooter. I hope i told you guys what im trying to do properly so you can help me with this one.

i think you can... u need alot of DOF, so go high on the aperture. so it doesnt matter what camera, as much as what lens:D goodluck!

You could try taking two (or more shots). One focused on the R/C car, the other on the real car, then combine them in photoshop/whatever. It should work ok of the camera is in exactly the same place for both shots (like mounted on a tripod).

Yeah i didn't want to HAVE to go to the chopping booth for this, more just wondering if it was a possible shot with my gear. I am going to try it out tomorrow. Weather was less than ideal for shooting cars outside this weekend.

You should be able to get them both at the same time, use a tripod, and a long shutter speed.

or a view camera with movements to put the plane of focus through both cars...
for digital, you might be able to get it with a tilt & shift lens
but both of these aren't something you pick up cheaply / learn very quickly :(

So did you take the pic? I'd be interested in seeing the results!
