The summer drum corps season is upon us. I had a chance to go to Stanford Stadium last Saturday for the DCI West Championships. What a great event it was!
I shot from my seat in the stands.

They all look as though they were chopped out of the middle of bigger images.

Did you get any flack for your camera? Their policy pretty much prohibits anything longer than a 6" lens, preferring that people have point-and-shoots...
Being an digital technologies instructor for a higher education institution, I was able to score media credentials for the West Chester, PA show through YEA. I also submitted a request to DCI for DCI East in Allentown, PA on August 1st -- it would normally have been denied, but the person who approves the requests just happened to be my former corps director for four years and knew I was on the up and up, so... I'm really looking forward to Allentown!

Interesting. I never had a problem taking a larger lens into any DCI show.

No flack, but my camera was still in the bag and nobody really checked at the gate. I only have the 18-200 kit. I think the bigger issue they're making checking is audio/video recording.
Have fun in Allentown, and go Santa Clara!
