Hey all, looking to get a little P&S....either a A-90ish or SD500, but cant decide if I will need the extra manual modes or not. I want small, and at least 5 MP so either is good but would I miss the manual controls? Anybody been in this position and regreated a buy?
I have a 20D so I just want a decent camera for taking with me *everywhere* plus I think digi processor is worth trying to get as I need the movie mode.
Any ideas?

I've never regretted buying my S500. The big plus with this camers is being able to stick it in my shirt pocket. I went this route initially because it was on closeout at my local camera store for $250 and takes CF cards. I went in to get an A95, and walked out with the elph. Now I appreciate it's small size and simplicity.

hello thereunlike film p.s, these days the digital ones gives you a lot of contro; even with out manual . id say go for the smallest cause with abit of undestanding you can use the spot meter and exposure compensation to get what you want. yes its not the whole thing but if you have an slr you would like to carry something small, not an s-70 or a95 but ixus 700 or so. its not perfect but you cant get it all can you?

If you are persistent enough, you can learn a few tricks to fool the auto settings to your advantage. just look around. For shots that need more attention you can use your d20 anyway.
