I am struggling with categorizing some of my photos. Recently I've done nothing but model shoots and have a wide range of photo types and don't have a good way to group them.

Right now I've kind of gone with Portrait, Glamour, Pinup, and Fine Art. But that doesn't seem to cover everything and most just get stuck into Glamour. Partly because I'm not even sure what glamour photography really is. I look in the Glamour forum and it's all over the map.

So what do you do? How to you categorize your photos?

Nobody says they can only be in 1 category.

That's the whole point of key wording. You can keyword your images, and keep them as "shooting sets" so if anyone wants to look at the pin-ups they just click on that keyword and all the images across the sets with that keyword are presented.

True. I do keyword so that could be done.

What I feel is that I'm starting to getting too general with some categories (like glamour) and not specific with other (like pin-up, swimsuit, implied, nudes, etc). I'm just looking to see if there are any best practices for presenting a diverse portfolio.

I think you're putting Glamour in the wrong position than. Glamour is an overall category where as PinUp is a subcategory of Glamour. Dresses, Weddings, even work cloths can all be Glamour but they are subcategoried out from there. So my suggestion is that very few things should be directly under Glamour, they should be in subcategories under it.

Thanks. I knew something wasn't working and your suggestion makes a lot of sense and makes things kind of fall into place.
