I just wanted to run this by the crowd here and see what you thought of the print system I came up with for inexpensive home photo printing.....

I picked up an epson r200 photoprinter for $99.00, and tried it out, it seems ok for reasonable quality prints for amatuer purposes. Anyways, we all know how outrageous the ink cartridge prices are these days, so I did some checking around on the web and ordered a "continuous ink system" with dye ink for $93.00 including shipping. This will hopefully work ok, the system I ordered does not have sponge in the cartridges, and has dampers so that the ink does not link. Now supposedly the one I ordered also has a new "chipset" in the cartridge so that it does not "pump" and "clean" the heads on each print job. I guess this was some sort of problem on older designs of ink systems, which lead to increased ink consumption, and wasted ink.

Any thoughts from the pro's here? Will this work ok for me, or did I just waste $200 on total crap......

I know the JLWSales system is nice... I'm picking up one of these bad boys once I have enough money for the R200. (well... gotta get the R200 first)

The one I ordered is from toppyjess, whoever that is on ebay, but it seems similar to the JLWsales one you are talking about. Only difference I could find is that the one I ordered comes with Dye sub ink, instead of pigment, not entirely sure what that means, but we will find out ;)

My kit arrived friday evening. I was real easy to setup, and printed well right away. I have yet to evaluate the color accuracy, I did print an 8x10 on plain paper and it seemed fine, matching quite well the picture on the monitor screen. I guess its a good kit then :)
