i am thinking about buying this for another portrait lens. i already have the nifty fifty and it has done its job and i need up upgrade. i would get the 28-135 but the aperture isn't my best friend since i have worked with it before.
so would anyone who uses this post examples and such please:)

Why the macro version?

Why not the 100mm f/2?

I had the 85 f/1.8 and just sold it to pick up the 100 f/2.8 macro. I know that a lot of people use the 100 for portraits. You won't regret either lens, but the 100 would be more of an option for the "religious" shots you do.

85mm f1.8is very nice for portraits but could be problem for macro due to its MFD.

I have the 100mm macro for newborn sessions and I think it produces a gorgeous bokeh for portraits!

The 100 f/2.8 is a good value for money lens. It is very sharp and a great focal length for portraits on my 1D III
