I shoot deer whenever I please!

Came upon this group of a dozen or so deer early this morning at a local wildlife management area. I've been looking for them for about a month when, after going to the area that I normally search, I turned around and there they were. Sneaky little devils -- they've been hiding behind me all this time! :D

Taken with my 20D and 100-400 L at 400mm, f5.6, ISO 400 at 1/640 sec.

Thanks, folks! Seriously, I'm not a deer hunter, never have been and never will be. I don't want to start a debate over this, it's just my own personal position. All I can say is that I genuinely enjoy the hunt for pictures like this. It's a great challenge. On this particular morning I turned and saw this grouping of deer and had less than 10 seconds to frame and shoot. I got off about 10 shots thanks to the quick response of the 20D, its fast frame rate and the fast USM focusing of the 100-400L. As quick as they were in my viewfinder, they were off and running back into the trees, never to be seen again no matter how much I tried to stalk them through the forest. That's what I love about wildlife photography -- the chase is half the fun!

Thanks, Marie! Almost everything else was is shade, but it looked like the deer said, "Hey, here's a little light. Let's stand here just in case someone wants to take our picture!" :)
