Can someone suggest field bellows? I know most of them are for studio work, but I'd love to have some advice on some that can be held by hand.

Oh, you can hold all of them by hand, no problem!
The problemm will only arise when you'll try to stay rock solid at the same millimetric distance from you subject.
Go forget it, use a tripod! ;)

Every thing I read say bellows are not for field work.
They are too heavy, too fragile, too hard to work with in the field.
Also with bellows you are dealing with high magnification with is not very compatible with hand held.
Also with bellows you are dealing with lower light levels again not very compatible with hand held.
What are you wanting to capture with bellows in the field?
Might be easier to capture it and take it back to the studio.
