mrgooch, I used the Canon 100-400mm with my Xsi and did some major cropping and a little sharpening and the rest is pretty much out of camera. Here is EXIF on both shots.

1st Shot:

1/80
F/8.0
Manual mode
ISO 100
Saturation +3
Sharpness 3
Single point AF
Spot Metering

Second Shot:

F/8.0
Manual mode
ISO 100
Saturation +3
Sharpness 3

Really outstanding work!

The rule of thirds doesn't apply to astrophotography if it is not a part of a landscape shot showing terrestrial features, so the large black area in right half of the first image is not really necessary.
