I went back out to where the Great Greys had been hanging around. There is still one there.
They don't obey the signs

Of course there was other photographers around

As you can see this one is fairly tame. I tend to think that this one might have be baited a few times as wherever I went she would follow me. A couple more serious shots.

that first one is hard to believe Sheldon
it's wonderful
like a cloak around the faceless bird
'mr sandeman'
and it's just great to get it on the parking sign http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
maybe the owl was expecting a call on that mobile
they are beautiful shots of the big bird, the last one especially
and in the other, how it is looking down at the mobile
(thinks it is bait ,no doubt)
their profile is so flat

I don't know, Sheldon, but between you and Ian, I've flat run out of superlatives.
Really wonderful stuff.
These are among some of the finest pictures I've ever seen of a person using their cell phone camera.

How close did you get to that owl? If you got as close as it looks and you said it followed you then it might be imprited. That is not a good thing. But thoses shots were great. I personally love owls that is why i work with them. Love the pictures.

We have been following these owls since December. At the peak of its presence here you could easily go out and see 15-20 in an afternoon if you worked at it. With all of them you could get very close to them. You could quite easily be within a couple of feet if you want as is evidenced in the shots here.
Just out of curiosity what the heck is imprited.

An inprinted sorry spelled wrong before, but it is when a bird opens its eyes for the first time and what ever they see first is what they are. I work with alot of birds that think they are hunman. It is fun. Hope that answered your question.

We're not really into splitting hairs around here, especially when it comes to spelling. (Check out some of the moderators---one in particular  ), but I think the word you're looking for is imprinted.
Birds are fun. So many of them taste like chicken.
