Hi,
I am not a professional wedding photography, keen amateur. I am trying to get a quote for public liability insurance and they ask me about my business details, company name, address etc.
Obviously, I don't have one :-)
So, does anyone know any UK insurers who can provide liability cover for an amateur and preferable for a single day/event.
FYI - I will need this cover for shooting in certain locations next week and if I don't get it then I will be very restricted.
Thanks
Ramesh

Have you tried Aaduki? We, and many full-time wedding togs we know, have our insurance through them.
No idea if they cover exactly what you're looking for, but it's always worth asking them as I know from personal experience they will vary their terms to suit individual businesses (we got 24 hour unattended equipment cover in vehicle by asking).
I think the concept of being amateur but requiring public liability cover are probably at odds with each other, so they'll probably treat you as part-time pro.

Thanks Rob, I did take a look at them but they require me to insure my equipment which I don't want to do. I have it covered already. All I am looking for is just the public liability insurance. I'll give them a call anyway to see if they will just provide cover for the liability.

Ramesh,
I use Aaduki,
and I'm sure when I started I did not insure my equipment through them.
Just PLI.
Have you tried calling them?
It may be things have changed.

Ashburnham Insurance can provide public liability insurance for a photographer (http://www.ashburnham-insurance.co.uk/public-liability-insurance/Photographers.shtml) in the UK. They don't insure single events but the price for the year is only £52.66 for £1,000,000 cover. The only term is that it excludes studios.

Thanks for the info guys. The event is over and luckily I didn't need the public liability insurance in the end. Good to have one though so will look into your recommendations.
Thanks!

Just looking at your lens collection I'd hate to pay your equipment premium. (Or medical insurance for having to carry all that).
Edit: Oh yeah... you're in the U.K. Government health care.
Carry on!

They don't all come out to play at the same time :-)
