I dropped my Canon Powershot SX110. Unfortunately the LCD screen cracked and I can't see anything. I don't have an actually warranty:cry:, except for the limited one. What can I do about it? Is it even worth fixing?

I had the same problem a few years ago. I had a ixus 500 with a broken LCD.
When I called Canon repairs they asked me to send in the camera and
they wanted 185 euro's for fixing it. A new camera was about 300 euro.
So I asked Canon repair to send me the LCD so I would repair it myself.
At first they would not send the LCD saying that is not possible for a user
to change the LCD.
Then I wrote a angry e-mail to the Chief of Canon repair and said that I
am a electronic engineer and was doing repair on electronic devices
from the time that he was not born yet.
An hour later they called me and after a short conversation they agreed
to send me a new LCD.
The LCD costed only 17 (yes seventeen) euro and with other costs it
came to 35 euro.
It toke me about one hour to change the LCD and now, after 4 years the
camera still works like a charm.
2 weeks later I received another LCD for free because someone at Canon
had made a mistake and thougt that the camera was under warranty.
But after calling them they said I could keep the second for free.
So the best thing you can do is ask Canon repairs for a LCD and change
it yourself. It's not so difficult.
The fellow at Canon said that they are obligated to deliver spare parts
for theyre camera's. At least in my country.
So, again, call or write to the nearest Canon repair and ask them to send
you the LCD. It's cheap and you can do it yourself with a little patient and
a little screwdriver.
Do a Google search and you will find many vendors who can help you with
your repair and/or finding a new LCD.
Good luck.

That's a good approach, pretending you're a crazy EE!
Wife broke the LCD on her SD870IS. I just got her an SX200IS to replace it, and the 870 is going in the trash! Got the manual for sale, though. Any takers?? :p

Canon's attitude seems to vary by country. In the USA they're very helpful, in Canada and Europe seemingly less so.

It's a pitty that you're going to trash this fine camera. To bad we are living
in different continents. If we lived in the same region I would take this camera
from you and repair it myself.
Good luck with your new camera.
