My internal flash isn't working...

Ever since I put my 430ex flash on my camera I found that my internal flash doesn't pop up anymore and I even tried to check with the settings. Even after I remove the external flash my internal flash wont pop up, have I done something wrong?

I assume you have tried to take a picture in full auto mode with the lens cap on to see if it will pop up? and also hit the pop-up button on the side?

there's a very small switch in the hotshoe
grab a paperclip or something small, and see if you can slide it back

Well yeah, that's how I pop the flash up i've obviously never done it in manual mode.
