The hands might be weathered but to me the Walnuts wit their hard, dry shells make the hands look soft and pink. I like the contrast and the second photo in particular.

Here's a thought, and yes, I know I am weird, but that second shot, in B&W with a little PS magic, could easily become a handful of squirrel brains... :D
