Brand new member, just registered today. I bought a 300D a few months ago and have fallen in love with the art of photography. I am even starting to apprentice for a wedding photographer. I wanted to share a few pictures I took and get some feedback on them. Some were taken when I didn't know an f/stop from a hole in the ground so be gentle. :) My photographer friend says "I have a good eye", but then he's my friend so I wanted to hear some opinions from people who arent afraid to say that I suck. So let me have it.

ps: the last one is a photoshop collage of multiple shots of one tree and an overlayed face. (I am a designer, web, print and advertising, by day)

The first one reminds me of an Ansel Adams shot. The last one is amazing, very creative.

I've been coping with sunrises/set and wonder how you made this nice photo

EOS DIgital Rebel, In Programe AE, f/11 at 1/200th, ISO of 200. I was shooting with my 18-55mm kit lens on a tripod. White Balance AUTO. About 6:05 in the morning. Thank you for the compliments everybody. It's one of my favorites as well.

very nice collection of photos. Would you mind sharing how you did the collage. I see the hat and the face. I'm just curious about the steps you took.

Hi Jcouto, WELCOME to the forum. :D
I really like the first shot, and it seems to work well in B&W.
All the shots you posted here look good, so I suspect your friend is right. ;)

That second shot should be in a large print on your wall. I'd certaily have it on mine had I taken it!

I hope it makes it there

The collage was basically these steps (in a nutshell)

1. took all the photos, each time turning the camera to a different angle, always overlapping to make sure I go the whole tree (I was actually swinging in a hammock at the time, if you look carefully on the bottom right you can see my foot in the hammock)

2. brought in all the pictures and overlapped them on different layers in photoshop

3. added a slight outline to each pic to create the "printed pictures" effect

4. Created the drop shadows for the pictures I needed

5. In a new file, I flattened all that together (but not onto the background) and used it as a clipping mask in PS when I brought in the face.

6. Found a good blending mode and opacity for the face (dont remember now which)

7. New file again, flattened and Sepia toned to my taste.
