Yes, i've never tried it though. It should be in your manual, and you'll have to use the Canon software supplied with the camera.

You can do that with Canon RemoteCapture which is launched from EVU or DPP.

yes. Snaps show up in "real time".

You can do that with the 300D. I've tried it just to verify it works. Even lets you do time lapse I believe.
And yes, you use the software supplied by Canon with the 300D.

Do you just use the standard USB cable?

And yes tim, usb that came with the camera I believe.

vpkb,
Like PacAce said, you shoot directly to your computer by using Remote Capture. I did it using my laptop, had a Canon CP-200 printer connected and was able to print 4X6 prints on the spot for quick sales at functions I would attend. Once you have shot using Remote Capture, the DPP or EVU software will allow you to also perform real quick post processing before you print.
Good Luck,
Jeff

Well, duh! ;) That's because the 20D didn't exist when the 300D came out. Try using the software that came with the 20D or download the latest version from the Canon website.

HEY Y'ALL!
I am new to Canon Forums. I am also new to Canon Products as well as digital. I purchased the 20D along with the 70-200L USM 2.8. I love my camera, I like my lenses. Perhaps with some advice I will love the lense too! I am shooting local park sports events. I find the 200 too short for my desired prints. I also am getting too much blur under the lights, I am losing half of my shots. I shoot mostly P mode, occaisonally action mode. As far as the zoom I am considering the Sigma 120-300 2.8. Any opinions and advise would be greatly appreciated.

Most of your responses to this question require you to be physically connected to the PC - is this what you want? Did you want the shoot your camera FROM the PC? Or do you want to send pictures TO a PC?
The 20D just got an upgrade in firmware that allows you to utilize a Wi-Fi device to transfer photos directly TO the PC. The difference from Remote Capture is your not physically connected to the PC and you're controlling the camera FROM the camera position.
I don't believe the Wi-Fi device allows you to control the camera FROM the PC via Remote Capture, but I could be wrong.
The Wi-Fi device is not cheap ($1000 MSRP).

AWP - Using the 200mm zoom, it is recommended to use a shutter speed at least as fast as 1/200 of a sec to prevent blur. (the rule is to use the focal length as the denominator of a fraction for shutter speed, for example, a 50mm lens would need a speed of 1/50th of a sec to prevent blur, hand-held) This is a very rough rule, but it helps to keep it in mind. So, for starters, try using tv mode and setting the shutter speed to at least 1/200 and give it a shot. If your camera tells you that you will underexpose, you need to up the ISO setting. If 1/200 doesn't work, try an even faster speed, or use a tripod.

smirchfa, thanks for the response. I am not real sure that I am doing this forum thing right. I did indead shoot some tv, 200 and 250 iso 1600 they were underexposed. I am using a monopod at this time. I find it easier to follow the action with it. Should I try to up my iso in custom functions?

EOS Capture software came with the 20D. Page 53 in either the Windows or Mac sections. About 5 seconds transfer time for a RAW image, less for jpegs.

I think the technical term for what you've done is hi-jack the thread. No big deal for me but it may be for others. Generally a thread is kept on the originally posted topic, in this case shooting a DSLR from a PC. The proper thing to do would be to start your own thread with your own question. It's not hard at all...
And welcome to the forums...

Sounds like you are shooting in some really low light? Try going in M mode, with a wider aperture (smaller f numbers) and about 200-250 shutter as recommended. Use the exposure meter to judge how wide you need to make the aperture for the correct exposure. I wouldn't boost to 3200 iso because you're probably not going to be happy with the noise levels.
As far as the forum goes, you really should have started a new thread for this question instead of appending to someone elses. It's easy for your question to get lost in the noise of this thread.

I would love to start a new thread, but I have yet to figure out how. I am sure that I will feel pretty stupid when I do. I have clicked on everything in sight.
