Hello everyone...I did some searching on this topic without any luck. I am in the process of opening my own gallery/studio and have a question. When I display my photos in the gallery, I'd like to put a small placard on the wall next to the photos (showing title, price, etc.). What are the most common mediums to do this with. Mount in acrylic, mount on foamboard?? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I see alot of galleries using basically the back of buisness cards... that type of material.. some type of thin matte board

Nice white paper between two pieces of glass would also work. I've done this once and its really nice. you mount the paper in the glass it has 4 nuts that tighten and hold the paper. The wall has 4 slots where the glass inserts into.

The other common one is like Dave said, nice white heavy paper mounted on a white matboard. You can make it the same size, or smaller matboard to just hold the paper off of the wall.

At my gallery show I matted and framed my own artwork. So I used the leftover "insides" of rectangular mat board. I cut them all into small, uniform pieces, I think it was 4x6. I then bought clear Avery labels at Staples and printed the info on them from my Canon mp600. The labels are like a sticker but are totally clear and thin. Just make sure to use a ruler when you put them on so they are straight.

Ive also seen packages of precut small matboard pieces at Michaels arts and craft stores. You could always print out the info on thin paper and then "wrap" it on the board like a package.

If you want to look extra professional and have money to spend. Id say buy acrylic card holders and mount them. Something like this http://www.shopbrodart.com/shop/cb/product.aspx?pgid=5242 But smaller.

As for the printing info; The method the gallery I was at requested was 3 lines of text. First being title, then media used, then size and price. If you are in a gallery with other artists you might want to also include your name. I also left a lot of my business cards at the front desk in a little card holder.

Hi! the project that i had before in school, I used a foam board for details of my displayed work of arts. I got the foam board (http://www.bdmatboard.com/64.foam-board.aspx) at Bdmatboard. Hope this simple idea could help you.
