I took these yesterday around 6:00 am at the airport in Burlington, VT. It was cold enough for frost so the airplanes needed to be deiced. Lucky break for getting photos :D :D

I really like the last one. It is a perfect silloutte, highly detailed. The mist from the stream of liquid gives it a surreal quality.

I love the first one. Can remember having to do that job. It is a dirty one.

Thanks guys. Glad you liked my pics. Sillouttes always seem to please on this forum :) .

Sheldon,

I never knew you deiced. Have your lungs crystalized yet   ??

Do they have those Theraflu comercials in Canada with the deice guy? Those commercials always crack me up. They show some guy that looks like a model deicing planes out in a snowstorm. Afterwards, he goes home and sits in front of the fire with his theraflu. In reality, a deicer could never afford a home. Most of ours are college students. For some reason they call in sick often on sunday mornings. Must be in church.

BTW, if you liked these shots, I have a similar thread running over in the sports forum.

I also like the last shot. The background sky colour really punches out the silhouette.

These are GREAT! The first one made me think the plane was on fire, and was being put out.
And the last shot (Silhouette) is EXCELLENT! :D

Bruce and DMSmith,

What's the deal with silhouette photos? Whenever in see a silhouette on POTN it gets rave reviews  . Glad you liked mine  . I think silhouettes make for a very graphic image and the point gets across quick and easy. Too bad it's hard to find conditions condusive to silhouettes.

Sandy,

Thanks. I'm glad you like #2 the best. that is actually my favorite also. I think that picture tells a bit of a story if you look at it close. The frost on top of the plane says that the plane has been sitting out all night, and the flight attendent boarding says it's the beginning of a long day. If you look close, you can see the reflection of the White Mountains and the sunrise in the side of the airplane.

the first one is fantastic! those colors are great. for a long time, i thought the cloud in the sky was vapor coming from where the water was hitting the plane! nice job! can you email me the full resolution version of the first?

Very nice pics. I love aviation photography. As an A & P mechanic I've been in the bucket spraying (deicing) aircraft many times. Nasty job, but someone has to do it. Keep taking and posting those pics. I take my camera to work daily taking pics of airplanes.

I've been working airplanes and taking pictures since 1985.

Very nice shot. Pretty brave taking your camera up in the bucket while deicing. Anyway it is still a great picture.

Cool pic. I like the reflection.

BTW, I just noticed we have a transportation forum. When did that start? I can't believe I missed that. Finally a forum where I can post my airline pics. Mods, feel free to move this thread.

You'd have a great sillhouette if you had the plane that he's washing in the frame.

The camera in the bucket is not the norm for me. It was light frost on the wings and tail. knew I could control the spray away from the camera.
