You need to get the latest official firmware from the Canon site , download it to your memory card and put card in your camera making sure your battery is fully charged , turn camera on and follow instructions on your lcd , it should overwrite the hacked firmware .

I beleive it is important to set any custom functions/parameters back to their default values before you reapply the original Canon firmware.

It's the "Custom Functions" menu option and you have to set each of these 17 or so options back to their default setting. There are threads here on the site that you can search for that tell you the exact position of all custom settings to go to before reverting back to the original firmware. If you don't do this you will have the dreaded "blinking eye" or other odd behaviour after the Canon firmware is re-installed.

Yes, what bauerman says. I got the blinking eye when I tried to return to original firmware.
Then, I found that all custom functions had to be reverted to original first.
Below are the settings for the CF.
1) Reset all the CF to the original 300D settings. Note: you cannot use the Reset option in the menu, it does not affect the CF's. Below is a list of default binary values from left to right (The bottom numbers in the CF menu):
0,0,0,0,0,1,0,11,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0
Then revert to your official firmware

Why not sell it with the camera?
It gives you more features, and hence added value to the camera.
That, and it doesn't void your warranty. Canon doesn't care about it.

anyone knows what's the real value of CF8? I'm selling my camera and just doesn't want to overwhelm the new owner with the extra controls.

It's "11" in binary. Or, 3 to the non-programmers among us. That threw me for a little when I was removing my hack.
On a related note, remember that there are 10 kinds of people in the world - those who understand binary, and those that don't.
