Discernable date code on a BP-511A ?

Hi All.

I asked an Ebay seller of an OEM BP-511A battery what the date of manufacture is and he came back with "K7L6C" as the only code he could find. I found a site that deciphered camera date codes but nothing for batteries.

Any ideas? I'm only concerned because lithium rechargeables have a shelf life and ebay-ers are really good about selling expired items.

Hmmm. I've never heard of a date code for camera batteries, but that's not to say that one doesn't exist.

I understand your concern about buying an "aged" lithium battery. Given the prices of Canon originals, have you considered picking up a Sterlingtek battery? I've used mine for the last two years and it still performs like a champ. And at the price they sell for, they are nearly disposable.
