Is this the correct Hood for the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS Image Stabilizer USM Autofocus Lens

It doesn't say anything about the "IS" function , or doesn't it matter?

I am making the big jump in to "L" glass

Go to bhphotovideo.com, find the IS lens, check the "included accessories", and search for that on their site. That'll tell you the answer, probably. IS shouldn't make a difference to the hood, it's only if they've made a change to the design of the lens for some other reason it'd matter.

That is what I usually do, just look at the accessories, but it a hood is not included on the 70-200's page.

the 70-200 f/2.8L lens should already include the hood.

If you're not buying new and there is no included hood, the non-IS version uses the ET-83 II, while the IS version uses the ET-86 hood.

4th tab on that little info subwindow thing, labled "Item Includes" has hood listed on it, and mine came with it. I think all L's do.

You can also go to Canon's site and check for accessories for the lens. In this case the hood is the ET-86.
