I currently own 2 Canons..... A G6 & a Powershot S70. Both offer full manual control & RAW, two essentials for me. I've been using the S70 for "inconspicuous" street shooting, for which it's compact size & 28mm lens are very helpful. I do wish, however that it had a swivel screen for capturing scenes "inconspicuously". For this reason I have been looking to acquire a Powershot A620, the only problem being the lack of a RAW shooting mode. I see that a CHDK hack is available for this model, & would like to know before I buy it how easy, or difficult it would be for me to apply this to the camera. I don't know anyone personally who has had experience with these programs, & a preliminary glancing over of the instructions makes it seem a little convoluted. Any opinions by users who have had experience with CHDK conversions would be greatly appreciated.

I spent a good part of yesterday exploring and installing CHDK on my 720IS. I have been aware of it for a while but only really looked into it now. The instructions and info may not be arranged and explained in the best possible way, but when all was said and done it was not hard to set up. Give yourself a day to read through the Wiki and the user guide and check the CHDK forum and you should be well on your way. If you get the program mentioned called "card trick" it will help set up and install things on your SD card. There has been a recent merge of some different variations which seems to make things less confusing on which version to use. I am really looking forward to trying out some of the great features I now have added to my camera.
