I'm looking for something that I can bring on vacation that will be smaller and lighter than the laptop. I guess optimumly, it would have an lcd screen to view that shots, delete what i want and burn the rest to a cd for safety's sake, allowing me to reuse the card again
anyone have any ideas?

Do you want the device to burn the CD/DVDs or use a computer later?
BH has a good list of available devices.

I don't know too many though that both allow you to look at the pictures and write to CD/DVD. They tend to be either or and if they do one of those, they tend to have smaller capacities, with iPod photo and flashtrax being exception on capacity.
The best one if you want to view your pictures on the device is the Epson P2000, highly recommended.
For trivia: I should receive a wolverine 80GB flashpak this afternoon (UPS better delivery it this afternoon) although I have a 30GB Delkin Picture Pad, I needed a faster card reader device and more storage. The Delkin was not cutting it any more. Still not sure if the Wolverine will, but I will see this weekend. I may need both to satisfy me. The Wolverine looked like slightly faster read time then Epson P-2000 and I don't need to look at the pictures. Way more capacity and half the price.
however, given the price of CF cards these days, it may be a better option to just buy some more cards.
