I decided to get up close to the Huntington Beach pier and take pictures with my new Tokina 11-16mm.
Here's the result.

Any CC would be appreciated, composition, technique, etc.
Also, any suggestions on PP for fireworks pics? I'm not great at PP.

With the size they look OK, what did your first attempt (2 years ago) look like? Were there 'lessons learned' to get these or is the quality the same?
I like the silloette with the moon (no fireworks) the best

Slightly too small to make a good critique but from whats there I do like the effort but needs some work.

....its firework....how can we critique. Anyone that know aperture and own a tripod can do it.

The problem with critiquing fireworks photos are that its largely a matter of luck with your shutter release. Unless you have advanced knowledge of the fireworks pacing, you're unlikely to know the best times to trip the shutter, and you'll end up with a couple good flare bursts, and lots of not-so-great ones.

For what it's worth, I think the first and last photos you posted looked best. #1 gives a good sense of place, but getting the exposure of the beach caused the flare trails to all blend together. The last one is a good mix between showing place, and decent detail on the fireworks.

The one problem that really gets me going is when I see "overexposed" fireworks. I mean its all one big blinding flash with no dimensions at all. And those are the ones that I simply throw out, delete...

I'm not a pro photographer but I do try to improve in my shots. I don't often succeed!..
So, on this 4th of july I decided to try shooting fireworks for the first time. I did follow instructions as to how to do this. I took about 140 shots and about 20 were good enough to keep. Some that I threw out were what I thought great, but when I saw that they had this over powering flash, It broke my heart but I simply deleted them.

I'll post a few that I thought were good enoughto keep. Please comment on them. But please be kind if there's any criticizm.

Thanks.

I like the composition of #1 but the colors are washed out. The others are OK but I am not a fireworks fan.
