OK, I can use ZB5.0 to download the jpg images, but not the RAW images from my 350D. I can of course easily copy the RAW files to my PC directly from the CF card using my card reader and Windows Explorer - but why on earth do Canon NOT supply a RAW image downloader or module for Zoombrowser?

Just wanted to complain...

Try RAWshooter its free and there reg hacks to view .thm in explorer. I'm not sure but there should but there is an app to convert RAW that came with the camera. I dont have a XT just a plain old dRebel.

Converting RAW is not the problem. DPP (provided with the 350d) is fine for that - I tried Rawshooter and found the results inferior.

The question is - why do they not supply software to download RAW images?

I think that if there were a poll of users it would be a very high percentage that actually use a card reader and either copy them manually or a program like breezebrowser's downloader. Perhaps Canon has realized this and just decided to skip this part to save a few bucks per camera shipped.

Have you tried contacting Canon on this. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be included in the XT and might have just been missed in shipping.

I can second this, my 20D was only be connected to my PC once and that was to set the owner info!

Card readers are a lot easier, they are often quicker too.

Yes, I can work around it. But should I have to? So Canon can save a few bucks per camera? Come on, this is not an inexpensive item, and they already include DPP which is actually very good software!

I have to agree with ssim, I hardly ever plug in my camera to the PC. If downloading is what you want then check out latest version of C1 Phase 1 Pro it includes a media importer. Unless you think that C1 is inferior.

Included with my 350D was ZoomBrowserEX 5.1 which for me does download the RAW files from my card reader. I have no idea what it does from the camera, but would imagine it would do the same as it does for the card reader.
