The name conjures up images of civilization lost but the place will surprise you. It's located in the middle of nowhere - ok, the Pacific Ocean - but it is an amazing location for many other reasons: nice beach, wild horses, interesting extinct volcanos, ocean vistas, surfing & kayaking, hiking and horseback riding

In it's own right the island is beautiful - plenty to see even WITHOUT it's amazing statues.

1- The statues look underexposed but the composition is nice. Some editing could probably resolve the issue.

2-Very stock photo-y. If that is what you are going for, then you accomplished it. To me, this photo is perfectly executed and quite boring.

3-Cool landscape. I would be tempted to crop the horizon though.

4-sky looks completely fake.

5-Is that the inside of the volcano? Wild! Water looks pretty stagnant. Shot isnt as good as a lot of other stuff on your site.

6-Cool shot. Very well executed.

I would say this is not your strongest work... as some of the stuff on your flickr is amazing! Not bad though, definitely advertises the island.

The Chilean gov't does restrict the number of people able to move there.

I am jealous. That is near the top of my list of places I want to go. Seeing the nice sandy beach was a surprise.

There is lots for thrill seeking nature lovers - you can enjoy the island even if the site of statues makes you sleepy.

There's diving & snorkeling, mountain bike riding, great kayaking...nice horse riding. Lots of activities to clear the palate of moai statue viewing.

there's sailing too

Very nice series...I've only seen the statues in photos and not the other beautiful areas on this island. Any wildlife here, besides the horses? Great series!

I always thought of it as a deserted island with a few rock statues. Not worth travelling this far. Now this place really seem to have potential.

Thanks for posting these! I can't wait until I can finally visit the island for myself. The Moai just blow my mind.

They're all too big (1100 pixels long) on Flickr, so I re-did a couple at 1024 pixels

Unfortunately it's attracting more tourists than the island can handle and it's having quite an impact on the fauna and flora .
