Hello,

I recently purchased a new SX1 IS from Adorama and it has been doing something quirky ever since I received it.

This model has a "Display" button which cycles the display through 4 different modes - LCD without info, LCD with info, viewfinder without info, and viewfinder with info. The problem is that when I shake my camera, the camera seems to register this as a push of the Display button and it cycles to the next display mode. When I say "shake the camera", this can be anything from a little jolt or bump to just a sudden change of shooting angle. This gets extremely annoying when I am looking at the LCD to line up a shot, then I make a slight movement and the camera decides to switch into viewfinder mode and the LCD goes black. I then have to press Display 2 or 3 times to cycle back to LCD view.

Aside from this quirk, the camera works fine. I have taken it on numerous trips and taken hundreds of snaps already. I just wondered if anyone else has ever experienced anything like this. I really don't want to deal with the hassle of a warranty repair, because I don't have a backup camera. Could there perhaps be a menu option to disable or enable which might stop this problem from happening? I really don't need to use the viewfinder mode, so I would be happy if I could set the camera to LCD-only, but I don't see an option for that.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Actually, I think I just solved this (at least a temporary solution). It turns out you can set display profiles in the camera's menu options. By disabling all views except one (LCD + info) I was able to effectively disable the Display button, since there are no other displays to switch to.
