I have a SD780 and recently removed some video files from the memory card. I now have my HDMI cable ready to go, so I want to replace the video files back onto the memory card so I can play them back through the camera. When I do so, the camera doesnt recognize the video files. Is there any way to reload them so I can play them off the camera onto the TV? Thanks!

What editing did you do to the files and were they rendered out in a specific format (that probably is not native to the camera...)

No editing, just straight drag and drop from the memory card.

I have an SX 10, so I'm not sure what software you may have. But if you have CameraWindow in Canon Utilities, one of the buttons on the right side is "Transfer to Camera." If you connect your camera to the computer and use that to transfer the original file back to the camera, you should be able to play it.
Hope this helps.

I installed CameraWindow and it seems that function is only for images. When I select one of the videos it throws an error that says: This image cannot be transferred to the camera.

Okay, you're right. Sorry about that. I know I've done this somehow in the past, and I thought that was how.
Now I'm fairly certain that the solution turned out to be ZoomBrowser. Under "Acquire & Camera Settings" there is an option to transfer to a memory card, so if you can use that to return the original file to the card, then you should be able to play it in the camera.
Hope this works.

ZoomBrowser isnt seeing the video file either, maybe its because im missing the .THM file. Any way to recreate this?

I think that filming a second (scratch) clip of the same duration and renaming the .THM to match your clip will work. I've heard it does, but can't swear to it.

Camera doesnt recognize the video file, says unidentified image.

I was able to do it once. Then somewhere along the line Canon changed the software and I couldn't do it anymore. Tried several different things, none worked. Haven't tried the method Jon suggested.
So the short answer is - photos yes, videos no.
