I need input. I have just received a 4100mAh battery pack. Lot's a power. But it was late getting here and I have already ordered a Big ed grip for my D-30. Now I know the grip would be nice, but the pack gives me twice the power. I shoot sports so my camera is on constantly for three hours, maybe more. I must decide by morning. One of them has to go back. Which one will it be????????

I would choose to keep the BG-ED3 grip. It offers more than just extended battery life; you get the 'portrait' mode controls, an overall better 'grip' of your camera, and the bonus of a really cool and profesional looking camera body. :)

Hi,

I do not have a battery pack, but I own a BG-ED3 grip. With two batteries in it, you will be able to take pictures for three hours and fill a 1 GB Microdrive. I have done that during two soccer games back to back.

I fully agree with Morden regarding other benefits (controls in portrait mode, etc).

To install the grip you must remove the battery compartment cover, (easy, no need for tools!). You can store this cover inside the grip in case you decide to take it off in the field. You may need to get a different camera bag rated for a professional body, (height 6").

Good luck!
