For a low dollar tele lens until I can get a "L", any advantages of one over the other?

Have a read of lens reviews (http://www.photographyreview.com/Lenses/PSC_3787crx.aspx) on that site or on http://fredmiranda.com , they'll give you lots of info.

The Sigma APO Super II would be my first and the Canon USM 100-300 my second choice. I wouldn't go for the 75-300. This topic is well covered here and you need to search.

Ditto. Either Sigma 70-300 APO Super II, or EF 100-300mm USM if u cannot afford L tele.
